 Three pine needle projects in one weekend!
Pine Needle Tray - Friday
This is a great way to go green, by recycling pine needles! A great introduction into pine needle basketry. The beginning of the basket tray is wrapped around a plastic ring with artificial sinew, using the double buttonhole stitch. The center of the ring is a gorgeous teneriffe weave. Let the coiling begin! The pine needles encase the middle ring by coiling with the wheat and fern stitch. The small extensions are embellished by adding seed beads using the fagoting stitch. Come and join in on the fun.
Pine Needle Bracelet - Saturday
Do you want a one-of-a-kind bracelet? You’ll be getting a lot of requests for this bracelet. Learn the double buttonhole stitch, used to wrap the wire form. The middle of the form becomes your artist palate. The beads are added by using the fagoting stitch. Then the final touch is pine needles coiled around the form, using the wheat and fern stitch. The final result is a uniquely-yours bracelet.
Pine Needle Necklace - Sunday
Did you say pine needles? Yes, these are dyed pine needles coiled around a wrapped ring! The double buttonhole stitch is used to wrap a plastic ring. A beautiful teneriffe weave is added to the center ring. The pine needles encase the ring by coiling, using the wheat and fern stitch. Then embellish a tassel with the beads. The necklace cord is attached by using a toggle clasp with a different approach. You will have lots of friends admiring this necklace. | | Take Home: | Friday:

| Instructor Bio:
Vicky learned the art of coiling pine needles during a camping trip with her family as a young girl. That was some 40 years ago and she’s still coiling. She enjoys gathering just as much as she does making and teaching basketry. She loves to teach to help keep the art of pine needle coiling from becoming a lost art. Her baskets have won several first place and grand champion awards. She belongs to the Pacific NW basket guild, Natural fibers group and the Pine Needle group. |
