Easier Than It Looks - Interleaved Twills On 8 shafts |
|---|
| Instructor: Lois Smolinski |
|---|
Weavers! Rev up your 8-shaft looms and get ready to try something new and challenging! Interleaved Twills produce fabrics that dance with complexity but are much easier to weave than they appear. Divided Twill, Corkscrew, and Manifold Twill are interleaved structures that combine 2 or more twill lines by alternating the threads of each line. Learn how to weave these Interleaved Twills and how they may be extended for even more complexity. Learn a method for designing your own Manifold and Extended Manifold Twills. Experiment with a computer design program method of creating interleaved structures. [round robin] | | Take Home: | 8 or more woven samples; a binder containing the drafts, explanatory notes, and exercises. | | Skill level: | Advanced Beginner – Advanced Intermediate. | | Materials fee: | $18.00 | | Supply List: | Pre-warped loom – at least 8 shafts. Many excellent teachers at conferences, workshops and guild activities have influenced her in the past several years. A self-described “structure junkie,” Lois is happiest at play designing threadings, tie-ups and treadlings. |
